Brockhurst Road
Street guide, Gosport
Brockhurst Road runs from the western edge of the town centre towards the Brockhurst and Elson areas, passing Fort Brockhurst along the way. The road carries a moderate volume of traffic as one of the connecting routes between the residential west and the town centre. Fort Brockhurst, the English Heritage site, is visible from the road with its moat and ramparts. The housing along the road ranges from Victorian terraces near the town centre end to interwar and post-war semis further west. A small parade of shops near the Brockhurst Gate junction provides everyday essentials. The road passes under the route of the former Gosport railway line, now partly converted to a cycle path.
