Forton Road
Street guide, Gosport
Forton Road is one of the longest streets in Gosport, running west from the town centre through the Forton neighbourhood towards Brockhurst and HMS Sultan. The eastern section near the High Street junction has a commercial character, with a dense strip of small shops, takeaways, barbers, and convenience stores reflecting the diverse population of the area. The western section becomes more residential as it approaches the military land. Victorian terraces line much of the route, interspersed with some later development. Forton Road has a more urban, varied feel than the leafier streets to the south. St Vincent College sits just off the road on Mill Lane. The street is well served by buses and provides a direct route to the western parts of the borough.
