South Street
Street guide, Gosport
South Street connects the High Street to the bus station and runs parallel to the harbour edge in the town centre. It is a functional street rather than a showpiece, serving as the approach to the main bus interchange and providing access to several local businesses and takeaways. The bus station on South Street is the main public transport hub for the borough, with services to Fareham, Lee-on-the-Solent, and the residential estates. The street is busy during commuting hours as passengers transfer between buses and the nearby ferry terminal. Some older buildings survive along the street, though much of the frontage reflects mid-twentieth century rebuilding.
