Haslar Road
Street guide, Gosport
Haslar Road connects Alverstoke to the Haslar peninsula, running past the grounds of the former Royal Naval Hospital and continuing to Haslar Bridge. The road provides the main access to Haslar Marina, the Submarine Museum, and the hospital redevelopment site. The mature trees along sections of the road, particularly near the hospital grounds, give it a pleasant character. Haslar Road crosses Haslar Bridge, the retractable bridge over Haslar Creek that is periodically raised to allow boat passage, occasionally causing traffic queues. The road is well used by visitors to the Submarine Museum and by residents of the new housing being developed on the hospital site. It provides a direct route from Alverstoke to the town centre via the harbour edge.
