Nimrod Drive
Street guide, Gosport
Nimrod Drive is the principal road through the Rowner estate, named after the Nimrod maritime patrol aircraft that operated from RAF bases across the country. The military naming convention reflects Rowner's origins as housing for naval families. The road provides access to the Alver Village regeneration area, local schools, and the Holbrook Recreation Centre. The newer sections of the road, built as part of the regeneration programme, are noticeably better surfaced and landscaped than the older parts of the estate. Nimrod Drive connects to Rowner Lane and provides the main route through the estate for both residents and visitors.
