Stokes Bay Road runs from the Alverstoke area down to the seafront at Stokes Bay, providing the main vehicular access to the beach and recreation ground. The road is residential for most of its length, with a mix of detached houses and bungalows. As it approaches the seafront, the road opens out to the car parking areas and the open grass behind the beach. In summer, the road carries considerable traffic from visitors heading to the beach, and parking on the verges along the approach is common. The road is flat and straight, typical of the Gosport peninsula's low-lying geography. Properties closest to the seafront benefit from sea glimpses and easy beach access.
