Trinity Green
Street guide, Gosport
Trinity Green is a small, historic open space just off the High Street, surrounded by some of Gosport's oldest surviving buildings. The green sits beside Trinity Church (1696) and is enclosed by a cluster of Georgian and early Victorian townhouses that give the area a distinctly period character. This is one of the few parts of Gosport that retains the flavour of the eighteenth-century naval town, when officers and merchants built handsome houses close to the harbour. The green itself is a modest patch of grass with benches, but its setting makes it one of the most attractive spots in the town centre. It is a popular lunchtime sitting area and provides a quieter contrast to the busy High Street a few yards away.
